U.S. landfills are hitting capacity and closing at a rate of one per day.

—————————————————–

When styrofoam (polystyrene), is heated (like in landfills), or comes in
contact with certain chemicals it breaks down and releases acetone (the
active ingredient in nail polish remover), which is dangerous to our planet
and our bodies.

Water heating is the third largest energy expense in the American home.

—————————————————–

The average U.S. single family home uses at least 25,000 gallons of water
a year on lawns. More than double the water used inside the home. Just by
using the garden hose instead of a sprinkler system would save 12,500 gallons
per year.

Americans save 855,000,000 gallons of gas a year by taking public
transportation.

Wondering why everyone is so worried about the big drop in the bee population?
Well, appoximately 1/3 of the food we eat is dependent on insect pollination,
and a recent study shows, the culprit may be air pollution from power plants
and automobiles. Air pollutions blocks the scent of the flowers making it harder
for the bees to find them, thus contributing to the loss of bees and the drop in
the pollination process.
